No. That will not be cheap when it breaks.

That depends on whether or not it is a Northstar and if the head gaskets have already been done.

I get the feeling that even though there is a lot of GM parts bin in this, it is unique enough that it could be expensive to maintain.

Bad headgaskets, or the other wheezy underpowered eight cylinder? Also, hard to get parts and fritzy electronics. You’d be better off with a 780 Bertone with a PRV, and that’s saying something.

In general, I would really look into what parts availability is like on one of those. Even with the fairy impressive restoration parts market, there are some surprising things on my vette from that era for which there are simply no more news parts for, and for which there isn’t always a good repair solution because of it. Considering the much smaller numbers of those sold, I don’t imagine there to be a ton of aftermarket or restorations parts support for those.

Is that one Northstar powered? IIRC that’s the one you want, but check the forums. I think they are cool cars.

Hard to get parts? I disagree -- I can find three DTSs in my neighborhood alone that haven’t moved in years. Oh, and one STS

I meant trim parts, sorry. People also say 780s are hard to find parts for though they share all mechanicals with normal 700 series cars so it sounds like trying to find replacement, say, softtops would be difficult.

The convertible top on these was so complicated to operate, it had its own separate owners manual.
